TTF Boltless Rack FAQ : Your Guide to High-Capacity Steel Shelving
Q1. What sizes are available (Height, Depth, Length), and can I request custom sizing?
TTF Boltless Rack offers extensive standard dimensions: Height (H) options range from 30 inches up to 144 inches (12 feet); Depth (D) ranges from 12 inches up to 48 inches; and Length (L) ranges from 12 inches up to 96 inches. Custom sizing for height, depth, and length is also available to perfectly fit unique spaces.
Q2. Can the rack be customized (number of shelves, color, decking material, etc.)?
Yes, the rack is highly customizable. Customers can select customized dimensions and choose the number of shelf levels (2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 tiers, plus custom configurations). While the signature color is "Yellow & Blue," other color options are available through product lines." Decking material can also be customized.
Q3. What is the maximum load capacity for TTF Boltless Racks?
The TTF Boltless Rack is classified as light duty, supporting loads between 150 kgs and 400 kgs UDL (Uniformly Distributed Load) per level. Heavy-duty industrial boltless shelving systems, generally, can support up to 2,000 lbs to 2,300 lbs per shelf, depending on the specific steel gauge and beam configuration used.
Q4. What does UDL (Uniformly Distributed Load) mean, and why is it critical for safe loading?
UDL, or Uniformly Distributed Load, is the critical safety metric that assumes the total weight is spread evenly across the entire shelf surface. Loading items unevenly (known as tip loading) concentrates stress and can reduce the rack's actual safe load capacity by as much as 50%, risking structural failure.
Q5. What are the most common installation mistakes to avoid?
Common mistakes include:
- Incorrectly following manufacturer instructions
- Overloading shelves or failing to adhere to UDL
- Uneven assembly (failing to level the unit)
- Neglecting to anchor the unit when required for stability.
Q6. What decking materials are available (HDF, Plywood, Metal, Mesh)?
The standard material supplied with the Boltless Rack is High Density Fiber Board (HDF Board). Optional materials available to suit specific operational environments include Plywood, Metal Shelving Plate, Melamine Board and Wire Mesh Decking.
Q7. Can I add wheels (casters) to the boltless rack?
Yes, mobility can be added for light-to-medium loads. The manufacturer supplies compatible castor wheel accessories, such as the AP Castor Wheel. Note that when casters are installed, the static UDL capacity of the rack must be significantly reduced (derated) to match the lower load capacity rating of the caster set for safe operation.
Q8. Is there a warranty, and how often should racks be inspected?
Yes, the racks are provided with a 12 Months Manufacturing Warranty covering defects arising from materials or manufacturing quality. For ongoing safety and compliance, industry best practice recommends facility staff conduct quarterly visual checks, and a full, professional structural inspection be scheduled annually (or more frequently in high-traffic facilities).
